Importing Materials to Meet DemandThe map below which San Diego is currently receiving aggregate material. As the transportation distance increases, the cost of the aggregate increases retails the cities from rapidly. Studies have shown that the delivered price of aggregate can double when hauled 25-35 miles.
Materials from Import Areas Are in Short SupplyThe figure below shows that the areas we are importing material from are also experiencing aggregate shortages. Thus, we cannot continue to rely on these areas to provide aggregate that San Diego County needs.
